Learn more about England!

England is located on the continent of Europe and borders Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. Although this country is considered a European country, from 2020 onwards it is no longer part of the European Union. England's currency is the pound sterling, which after the US dollar is the fourth most traded currency on the foreign exchange market.

The form of government in this country is a united kingdom in the form of a parliamentary democracy, in which Queen Elizabeth is considered the head of state, followed by the country's prime minister, who is chosen by parliament.

The capital of England is London, with a population of 7 to 9 million, which is itself considered one of the most important cities in the country and also one of the oldest cities in the world. One of the most famous rivers in the world, the River Thames, flows through it. London is known as one of the economic and cultural centres of the whole world and has its own particular culture. One of the reasons for this is that a great many immigrants with cultures different from one another come to this city, so that its residents speak 300 different languages in the city.

Other important cities that can be mentioned are Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Cambridge. Each of these cities has characteristics and costs different from the others, although it is worth mentioning that the most expensive city to live in England is London.

About 98% of the people of England speak English, but because of the large number of immigrants, other languages such as Polish are also used by people.

England is considered a safe country in the world, and the rate of violent crime there is low. The capital of the country, London, despite its cultural diversity and large population, ranks among the safest cities in Europe and the world; although the issue of racism may arise, its government is trying to reduce it to a minimum.

In 2014, England's economy ranked fifth in the world economy and second in the European Union. According to 2015 statistics, 30.31 million people were employed, although immigrants' wages are sometimes lower than those of the native population, because immigrants are willing to work for lower wages.

England is considered one of the countries where the cost of living is high. London, its capital, is the most expensive city in the country and, of course, one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in. For this reason, financial costs are certainly one of the main concerns of immigrants. When immigrating to England, it is better to review the cities of interest and their costs; for example, in London, which is the most expensive city in the country, the estimated monthly cost for a family of four is 4075.06 dollars (3039.84 pounds) without rent, and the estimated monthly cost for one person without rent is 1158.73 dollars (864.37 pounds); overall, living costs in London are 169.09 percent more expensive than in Tehran, and rent there is on average 236.50 percent higher than in Tehran. The cost of living index of England's cities, from most expensive to cheapest, is: London, Brighton, Reading, Guildford, Cambridge, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Belfast, Leeds, Kingston.

In 2022, rent in England is about 83.88% higher than in Iran. The cost of living is also about 87.29% higher than in Iran. The cost of living for one person in this country without rent is about $883.83, and for a family of four about $3.075.65. The price per square metre of a home in the city centre is about 4.960.40 pounds and outside the city centre about 3.779.70 pounds.

Monthly utilities, including basic services (electricity, heating, cooling, water, garbage) for an 85 square metre home, are about 156.56 pounds.

Why is England one of the immigration destinations?

England is among the most popular European countries for immigration

Education system

Universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester are considered among the most renowned and powerful universities in the world and attract many students from all over the world; colleges and private and public schools such as King's College, UCL, LBS and schools such as St Paul and Kimbolton also play a very important role in attracting those wishing to continue their studies from around the world. Because they attract students from all over the world, some of whom are financially unable to pay many of the costs, the education systems of many of these universities, colleges and schools provide good financial aid for students. This in itself is one of the influential factors in choosing this country for educational immigration. The costs of further study in England depend on various factors such as the field and level of study and the city of residence, but roughly about 10 to 15 thousand pounds per year must be paid in tuition (without financial aid and scholarships).

Healthcare services

Healthcare services provided in this country under the state healthcare coverage scheme are free for all citizens of England and those who hold permanent residence, and are funded from general taxation. England ranks 6th in the world healthcare system rankings, which is itself one of the influential reasons for people immigrating to this country.

The national health service in England is called the National health system  and the annual budget allocated to it is 100 billion pounds. The country's healthcare sector is important to the government because it covers 90% of the country's population. People who are resident in England can benefit from free health and medical services. If an emergency arises for someone, they are treated free of charge regardless of their residence status.

Economy

England has one of the most valuable currencies in the world and is considered one of the global leaders in economic innovation. The country's banks have been able to rank 1st in Europe and 6th in the world in commercial activities. One of the largest financial centres in the world is located in England, in the city of London.

The country's constant innovation and progress in the economic field is a model for many other countries of the world, and makes this country a very suitable destination for immigration.
