About Germany

Germany is a member of major international organisations, including the United Nations, the European Union, the G20, NATO and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Germany is one of the immigration destinations for many Iranians. In recent years the country has faced labour shortages and has sought to attract immigrants to supply the workforce it needs. As a result, special immigration programmes have been designed to attract immigrants. The vast majority of citizens are ethnically German, and Turks and other Europeans are notable minorities. Germany is one of the most popular immigration destinations in the world, although its open-door policy has become controversial because of crimes recently committed within the country's borders. Another important reason for high immigration to the country is that education there is free.

Germany's climate is mainly temperate, with warm summers and cold winters. The western and northern parts near the North Sea have an oceanic climate, while central and eastern Germany have a temperate continental climate. Summers in Germany are not very sunny, and most of the time the days are cool and humid. Because of the clash between cold Siberian and Atlantic temperate air masses, unstable weather conditions prevail in the country.

Germany's healthcare system is one of the most developed in the world. According to information published by reputable international sources, Germany has the shortest waiting times for treatment, doctor visits and surgery in Europe. Of course, this does not mean that this strong system has no problems. One problem with the country's healthcare system is treatment costs, due to long hospital stays. Another challenge in the healthcare system is the shortage of hospitals and medical centres; this has caused the country to fall in the Euro Health ranking, from seventh to twelfth place. In 2020, Germany's public health system scored 98.1 out of a hundred points.

The country's education system is mostly similar to those of other European countries. The main difference, however, is that each state has its own education system for schools. Under the education laws set out in Germany's constitution, everyone living in Germany must usually start school at the age of 6 to 7 and complete at least the ninth grade.

46 higher education institutions out of the country's 2029 universities hold a notable position in world rankings. 12 of this group can be found in the list of the world's top 200 universities.

Some of the country's universities include Freie Universitat, Ludwig Maximilian of Munich, Technische Universitat Munchen, Humboldt University of Berlin, Heidelberg University, RWTH Aachen University and Goethe UniversityFrankfurt.

Learn more about Germany!

Germany is the richest country in Europe. It is one of the largest economies in the world, and since the reunification of East and West the world has witnessed its steady growth in the international community.

German-speaking tribes in northern Europe date back to ancient times, but the modern German state was formed in the nineteenth century. Defeat in the two world wars of the twentieth century led to the division of the country, and reunification took place in 1990 after the collapse of the communist government of East Germany.

Germany is a parliamentary democracy. The legacy of Nazism shows itself today in strict laws that address both hate speech and Holocaust denial.

If you intend to immigrate to Germany, note that the country's society and government are so sensitive about Nazism that they avoid mentioning the name “Hitler”; therefore never use this name in your conversations, and avoid referring to it at all, especially when you are in the street. A very small group from the Nazi party still exists in the country, although it cannot carry out any activities. Ultimately, however, you may be disliked by this group of people whatever your race; but the rest of the German people are not like this.

Remember that when immigrating to this country you should definitely make learning the language a priority. Even if you are going to get a study visa and study at a university that has not asked you for a German language certificate, finding work will be difficult if you do not know German. But even if your German is not excellent, when German people see that you have made an effort to learn their language, they will be more willing to give you work. Like most European countries, the people of Germany are particularly attached to their national language.

The people of Germany are hard-working. They work hard from Monday to Friday and put all their focus on their work, to the extent that they do not even check their phones during working hours, and they expect the same from immigrants. Remember that being late in this country will have unfortunate consequences for you in every respect. You will mostly see more bustle in the streets in summer, but the nightlife of the people of this country is different from what you are used to in Iran. At night, after about eight o'clock, you will not see much activity, and if they see a lot of noisy behaviour from someone, they will regard you as uncultured.

Germany is considered one of the economic giants of the world. Germany has a social market economy: open-market capitalism that also comes with certain social service guarantees. Its economy is one of the largest in the world, and Germany is one of the world's leading importers and exporters. Services, including industries such as telecommunications, healthcare and tourism, make up the largest share of the country's economy. Industry and agriculture are other important economic sectors.

Germany has a highly skilled and affluent workforce. The country's population is ageing, which has caused spending on social services to rise.

Culturally, Germany has produced some of the world's leading figures in the natural and social sciences as well as the arts. It is the land that gave rise to the modern printing press. Ludwig van Beethoven and Immanuel Kant represent strong traditions in literature, music and philosophy. Folk festivals are still popular in modern Germany, the most important of which is the annual Oktoberfest.

In 2020 Germany ranked second in the world for entrepreneurship. On the topic of a “well-developed legal framework” it scored full marks out of 100. On the topics of “well-developed infrastructure” and “transparent business practices” it also scored 99.98. On economic stability in 2020 it managed to score the full 100 points.

Rent in Germany in 2022 is approximately 58.65% higher than in Iran. The cost of living in Germany is approximately 75.30% higher than in Iran. The cost of living for one person in Germany, excluding rent, is approximately $876.32, and for a family of four it is about $3.002.96. The price per square metre of a home in the city centre is around 5,446.58 dollars, and outside the city centre it is around 3,763,23 dollars.

Monthly utilities, including basic services (electricity, heating, cooling, water, rubbish) for an 85 square metre home, cost around 229,89 dollars.

Why is Germany one of the immigration destinations?

Germany is a good option for immigration because ...

Education system

Germany's education system scored 97.5 out of 100 points. The country's universities are divided into two types: universities where you pursue academic fields of study and receive higher education degrees, and a second group of universities that train you in a specialisation related to the job market of your choice, so that immediately after finishing these courses you can enter the job market in your field and earn a good income. An electrician's income is roughly equal to a doctor's, so only people who are interested in a particular field of study go to the first type of university, and this can be at any age.

The fact that many universities in this country are free, even for immigrants, tempts many educated people to come to the country to continue their studies. Even if you have to pay tuition at your university, you can apply to the university for financial assistance.

Quality of life and life satisfaction

In 2020 Germany ranked ninth in the world on the quality of life index. In one of the sub-indices of this index, “economic stability”, it scored 100. In the “safety” sub-index it scored 72%, and in the “public health system” sub-index it scored 98.1%.

By immigrating to Germany you can be completely reassured about social welfare. By paying their taxes, residents of the country can rest assured that in times of hardship, disability or old age, the government will look after them and provide the help they need.

Economy

For several consecutive years Germany's economy has been regarded as the strongest among European countries, and it is renowned throughout the world. In 2020 the country's “good job market” scored 93.2 points. This means that if you immigrate to this country there is a 93% chance that you will find work. The country has strong economic ties with the world, scoring 95 out of 100 points.

Clearly, this country needs a workforce, and at the same time as needing workers its economy is also strong; as a result, it can be one of the most suitable countries for immigration.
